Scoliosis Treatment

Our team of board certified orthopedic experts at Summit Orthopedic Specialists diagnoses, evaluates and treats patients with scoliosis and other spinal deformities.

Scoliosis is a lateral curve in the normally straight vertical line of the spine. The normal spine curves gently backward in the upper back and gently inward in the lower back. The management of scoliosis is based on the adolescent’s age, amount of curvature and amount of time remaining for skeletal growth.

Adolescents with a spinal curvature need periodic check-ups and X-rays to make sure the curve doesn’t worsen. Early detection of scoliosis is important. If left untreated, scoliosis can cause back pain and breathing difficulty. Summit physicians are highly experienced in all treatment options, including bracing and surgery.
