Amputation Care

People who have had amputations confront many challenges that can affect their ability to live healthy, independent lives. Summit Orthopedic Specialists' interdisciplinary team works together to manage the unique needs of individuals who have lost a limb.

Our team includes a physiatrist (a doctor who specializes in rehabilitation medicine) who helps individuals with amputations and their families meet the challenges they face and help them achieve their optimum level of physical capacity. The physiatrist, along with physical and occupational therapists, works with patients and their family throughout the rehabilitation process. Together with prosthetists, the physiatrist works to obtain an appropriate prosthesis, develop an optimum fit, and conducts training with the new prosthetic device. Our team will continue to follow your progress over time and help maximize your independence.
